How to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Iperius Remote account

Access security is a fundamental element in managing remote connections. To further protect your account , Iperius Remote allows you to activate two-factor authentication (2FA) , adding an additional layer of security in addition to your password.

With 2FA, in addition to your login credentials, you’ll be asked to provide a temporary code generated by an authentication app (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or similar), significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access. This means that even if someone were to discover your user account credentials, they wouldn’t be able to log in, as they’d be required to enter an additional OTP that can only be generated on their personal device.

In this guide, we will see step by step how to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Iperius Remote account.

To enable 2FA, you need to log in to the Admin Panel with your administrator account.
Go to “Users” and edit the administrator account you’re logged in with. Enable this option:

As mentioned above, you need an application to scan the QR code and generate a temporary code to be entered in the box below:

Once the code has been linked to the Iperius Remote software, two-factor activation is complete.

From now on, every time you access the admin panel or the Address Book, you will always be asked for the verification code, making the connection completely safe and secure.

Please note : If the Iperius Remote account was configured in the client before 2FA was enabled, and you access the Administration Panel (via the shield icon), the client may still be using an existing authentication token issued without the 2FA requirement. This token remains valid until it expires (about 8 hours), and therefore, you may not be asked for the verification code. To ensure 2FA is applied correctly, remove and re-add the account in the Iperius Remote client; this will cause the client to request a new token, which will be linked to the account with 2FA protection enabled.
